Our family rented this duplex as 1 house. There were 1 adult with 3 boys ages 5 to 11 in the upper house and 4 adults with a 2 year old in the lower house. There was plenty of room. Furniture in the homes appear to have been recently updated. If you are planning on cooking during your stay the kitchen is updated and has good cookware. We did a combination of cooking and eating out. An extra refrigerator/freezer in the carport area was nice for water and storage for kids' snacks. The carport area was perfect for playing outside games letting kids play without being in the sun all day. Picnic tables are a plus under the carport area. Access to the beach is more of a drive to one of the close public beach parking than a walk. House does have beach wagon and lots of chairs for use on the beach. Unfortunately we had one issue with the master shower late one night. After a text to the number that was provided, a quick response fixed the matter. We celebrated my 60th Birthday while staying here. I would highly recommend this property.

We stayed at when pigs fly in gulf shores September 10 to 17. We all loved the interior of the two units. Both kitchens were updated and gorgeous. We had everything we needed for the week. The king bed in the upstairs unit was very comfortable. The private pool was fantastic. We do not have a pool at home so that was an important reason we chose this rental. The location to the beach is a little farther than I would have liked. Just walking to the beach to go walk the sand was fine. However, when you are going to have a beach day with all of the gear necessary for that, it is too far to carry everything you need. We loaded everything for 7 people into my husband's truck and he drove us to the beach, we unloaded and he drove back to the house. There is public beach access but it was going to cost $15 a day to park there. My husband didn't mind walking back to the beach each day. That's how close the house is to the public beach access.

The pool was a big hit! I liked that it was all one depth, the steps to get in were big and there was a little step along the side to sit on! The older children were able to play at one end while the younger children could play down by the steps!

We had a wonderful time staying at When Pigs Fly! It was close to everything, clean and the private pool was the icing on the cake! My only issue was the AC on the first floor. It did go out during our stay, someone was sent quickly to repair it. But it never really cooled the floor off again.

It was a nice relaxing stay for me and my family. It was easy access to the beach, and we had the option to use the pool also. We were a drive away from the local Walmart and restaurants, souvenir shops, but still had a relatively private and quiet location to retreat to at this property.

The house very clean and decorated nice. It is located in an area away from all the businesses which made it quiet, which we liked. It was nice having our own pool. If you've got to social distance what better way to do it than with a private beach house with a private pool. All in all, had a great trip. The house was fully equipped with everything we needed for our stay. It's a rental, so not ultra luxurious furnishings, but other than that it was a great time. The unit was clean and the location was perfect. Would definitely recommend the house and the property management company. It was a breeze to book online and the communication was crystal clear.

The house was spacious, the property beautiful, kitchen stocked very well with appliances. We loved the private pool but we were a little disappointed that the pool light did not work. Sadly two new homes have been built in front of this property which further restrict the view. But this property itself is lovely and close to everything.

The house was in a great location. Not on the beach but close enough. I did see another review before I booked that thought the street you had to cross to get to the beach was a problem. We had no problem at all. I talked with Waverly at the rental company several times before our stay and she was always very friendly and helpful.

Overall, it was a great experience. There were a few items in need of repair such as the upper master bath fan half hanging out of the ceiling, electrical face plate missing in the living room, and the dryer not adequately drying laundry. The biggest issue may have been nails popping up on the decking surrounding the pool, which was dangerous for the children. I'm shocked anybody would ever consider using nails instead of screws for fastening deck boards, but there were multiple areas where nails were used, and were coming up. We found a rock to pound about a half dozen of them down (only a temporary solution of course.)
Aside from these smaller issues, I would still recommend 'When Pigs Fly'. Great location, more than satisfactory amenities, and a decent value overall.

We spend couple of days over spring break with friends and family. There was enough space in the house for 15 of us (some young teenager kids). The house was clean, close to the beach, well stocked with everything we needed. We really appreciated all beach equipment and a cart to haul it there. Unfortunately, because it was spring break there was few students parties in the houses nearby and load music on the beach. Of course, this is has nothing to do with this particular house, but with general location – must be popular among students.

We rented this entire house for a large family group (5 families) as we were attending a wedding in Gulf Shores that weekend. The property description online was accurate as described and it was perfect for our large family. Unfortunately, our trip was cut short due to a hurricane (we only got to stay 1 night), but the house was comfortable and our short stay was very enjoyable. We did get to walk on the beach a little and play in the pool some. I wish we could have stayed longer. I did purchase the travel insurance, which was a blessing. I would definitely recommend this rental to anyone wanting a nice place to stay in Gulf Shores.

This property is perfect location if you are willing to stay a quick walk away from the beach. We loved the fact that it was clean and the rental company was attentive to any need that we had. It was perfect for the 2 families that we had. The only complaint (if you want to call it that) was the deck surrounding the pool needs treated to eliminate splinters. Other than that, we would highly recommend this location. It is extremely close to numerous activities and many restaurants. Again, it was perfect for our very active families.

This is our third time we've stayed here. We had 12 people rent When Pigs Fly and loved it. Very clean and up to date. We had a problem with the ice maker but maintenance was there within an hour with two bags of ice. Love the location (walking distance to the beach as well as "downtown" area). Our only minor complaint is it would be nice to have hangers in the closets as well as enough towel racks to hang all towels. Would definitely recommend this house.

Our overall experience was very good with the property. Rooms were very clean. Kitchens were very well supplied with pots, pans and dishes. When one of the air conditioners stopped working,we called the problem in and witrhin hours, a maintenance man was there to fix the problem temporarily. The unit was then replaced in a timely fashion and worked perfectly the rest of our stay. Only downside, was that the pool really needed to be cleaned several times during the week. The dip nets supplied would not remove the bugs and debris that had accumulated. We would definitely stay here again if we ever go back to Gulf Shores.

Our family gathering at "When Pigs Fly" was simply great. We had 9 Adults and 8 kids and everyone loved it. The pool was great for both kids and adults. Being a long and narror pool made it easier to keep track of the little kids.The walk to the beach was only a few minutes and the large white sandy beach was wonderful.The house itself was in wonderful shape and the couple of times we needed something fixed or taken care of the response from management was quick and professional. A group of us rented this house for Labor Day Weekend as a girls trip/ mommy getaway trip and it was FANTASTIC!! The house was very clean and perfect for our group. We had to call maintenance once for a clogged drain and even on a holiday weekend they responded EXTREMELY fast and had it fixed in no time. The location was wonderful and the short walk wasn't terrible for not being directly on the beach.
A few improvements we think would have made the house even better:
-more beach chairs (only 3 at house)
-foam pool floats instead of inflatable kind
-simple pantry items (cooking oil, flour/sugar, spices)
Overall though we were all VERY pleased with the home and can't wait to plan our next girls trip back!

When we read about the house we were skeptical because we rented a house last summer and we didn't really care for it. However, I have to say the description was right. We all loved it and would love to stay/rent again if we ever decide to go back to Gulf Shores. (We go to a different place every year!) The owners were great and very receptive. The ice machine broke while we were there and they came soon as we told them, and the next morning brought 4 bags of ice for us. (More than enough). The only down side was that the Wi-Fi stopped working so it was difficult for me to communicate with work and the kids to watch Netflix. But we were on vacation and it made me truly on vacation.Lol....

We had a wonderful stay at When Pigs Fly during Easter week, 2015. Two families shared the unit and it was in a great location, with easy access to the beach and great amenities. The pool was wonderful for the kids, the kitchen was well equipped, the yard area around the pool was great for tossing the football, etc. The house was large enough to accommodate our group nicely (5 adults, 3 teenagers and 3 kids.) There was lots of great porch/deck space and the grill was a great bonus since we ended up cooking most nights. All in all, one of the best spring breaks we've had. We will be back next year!

We rented the house for 2 weeks. First week was my husband's family, second week my side of the family. We had tiny grandkids so having the balconies fenced AND gated was great. The private pool was also fenced & gated.
A couple issues came up with some leaks but were taken care of very quickly.

This must be the best home on Gulf Shores. The decor is comfy and not too "beachy", excellent mattresses, well stocked kitchen utensils, new washer/dryer, great pool, lawn and trash service, easy to use keys, wifi, instructions. The home has a wonderful view, large balconies, and a perfect cupola at the top! Sleeps 14 and not once did it feel small or crowded. Dining tables and living room seating was inviting and comfortable. Convenient location with an easy walk to beach and travel carts for your beach items. I never wanted to leave the pool. This is the home I would pick every time.

We have rented many houses in the Gulf Shores area and this is by far the BEST one! The house was very clean and had more amenities that we could have ever imagined! The location is perfect! You are close enough to the Gulf to go hang out on the beach all day and the Bay to go fishing. It is so quiet it is literally like being on your own little island! We had a great experience at "Where Pigs Fly." we are planning on returning to Gulf Shores next summer but would maybe like a place closer to the beach, as it is quite a walk with small children. But the house was great and had absolutely every kitchen appliance/utensil that we needed, as we did a lot of cooking and grilling. The house was very clean and overall, we were very pleased!

The Upstairs half of When Pigs Fly stacked duplex is available January & February for snowbird rentals. Monthly rates are for a maximum of 3 guests.
Enjoy a quiet neighborhood and pet-friendly winter home away from home in Gulf Shores. January and February in Gulf Shores are great months for walking on the beach, playing golf and more. Typical daily high temperatures are in the mid 50s to low 60s. Restaurants, shops and activities are all open for winter guests and there are a range of events including Seafood Festivals, Boat Shows, Art Events and don't forget Mardi Gras festivities and parades.
Each floor has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, a spacious well-stocked kitchen, private laundry and balconies overlooking both the pool and beach beyond to the south, and Little Lagoon to the north. The upstairs also has a spiral staircase to the crow's nest which offers 360 degree views of Gulf Shores.
Next to the living room you'll find the king primary bedroom, with its en-suite bath and french doors to the deck overlooking the pool. There are 2 additional queen bedrooms, which share a hall bath.
When Pigs Fly is pet-friendly upon approval (for dogs) with a pet fee. The south facing deck has a gate to prevent unsupervised wandering down the stairs. The large fenced pool area is a great place to relax. We know you will keep in mind the importance of cleaning up after your pet!
The pool is open throughout the winter, but is unheated during January & February. The pool area is a great place to relax on lounge chairs on warm days.
Located 2.4 miles west of Hwy 59 (Gulf Shores Parkway) on West Lagoon Avenue, When Pigs Fly is across from a walking path that extends to the west to the recreation area at Lagoon Pass, and to the east past Beach House Kitchen & Cocktails and beyond.
