Come enjoy your own Southern Surprise! Enjoy a private pool and great views of the Gulf of Mexico & Little Lagoon at our Gulf Shores vacation rental beach house only 200 yards from the beach. This is closer than many 'gulf front' resorts and has an elevator--a rare find among West Beach homes!

Great winter home away from home in the West Beach area one street over from Beach Blvd. Great walking neighborhood with Beach House Kitchen & Cocktails and Waves Market just a block and a half away. The center of Gulf Shores is 2.5 miles away. At the end of the block you'll find a fishing pier on Little Lagoon and you are less than half a mile from Lagoon Pass, a great place to watch the heron or fish.

Winter daytime temperatures here generally are in the 50s and 60s (sometimes 70s) with beautiful clear skies so it is beautiful weather to be active outside or play golf at one of the 11 signature courses within 20 miles, Enjoy sitting around the private pool or on one of beach or lagoon side porches. Relax in the lounge chairs and enjoy the views. We also have a grill and outdoor dining tables for your use during your stay.

Southern Surprise has lots of nice luxury touches like a huge master bath on each level, wet bars with under counter icemakers, private baths for each bedroom and more. You'll love the pillow-top mattresses and soft sheets. Wonderful porches provide great views of the Gulf to the south, and Little Lagoon to the north.

The house is divided into two three-bedroom/three bath halves, one stacked over the other, with an interior connecting stairway and an elevator. The halves are separate and you can reach each one by stairs or elevator without going into the other half or open the doors to the stairs if you are sharing the entire duplex with friends or family. Shut the doors and each feels like its own house. This is the Upstairs unit.

Each floor of Southern Surprise has a spacious living area with wide open Gulf views and a large covered porch with a table and chairs to enjoy outdoor dining or relaxing. The beautifully equipped kitchen is open to the living area and features custom cabinets, granite counters and stainless appliances.

The master bedroom has a King-sized bed, adjoining lagoon-view private porch, and master bath with separate Jacuzzi tub, shower and double vanities. The second has a King (plus a pair of built-in twins) a lagoon-view balcony and a private bath. The third bedroom features a Queen bed and private bath.

This laid-back section of Gulf Shores known as West Beach has 4 rows of houses from the Gulf on the south to Little Lagoon on the north but is only 2.5 miles west of Hwy 59 with its selection of restaurants, shops and attractions.

Quiet beachview neighborhood near groceries, restaurants, golf, walking trails, recreation center, library and The Alabama Gulf Coast Zoo. A major outlet mall is 8 miles north in Foley. Our area has many winter activities including active snowbird clubs from about 12 states.

This unit is very spacious. A bathroom for every bedroom, an open living room/kitchen floor plan and a large deck. Lots of windows make it bright and cheerful. The kitchen is well equipped and the appliances work well, including a full laundry room. The location is close enough to restaurants, shopping and the beach but removed from the traffic and crowds. Our maintenance requests were taken care of promptly. The management was good to work with. We plan to rent this unit again.

Nice place to stay overall. Master bathroom needs some help - noticed a mold issue in the shower and sinks. Washer and dryer needs replaced. Other than that a nice place to stay.

Our family of 15 had a wonderful time at the Southern Surprise. There was plenty of room for all us. The elevator was a big plus for all of our luggage in and for bringing groceries home. Another big plus was every room having a bathroom. It made getting ready for family pictures and activities a breeze. The kitchen was nice with plenty of space for all of us to eat together by adding a few seats to the 3rd floor kitchen. The pool was a big hit. Even our 2 year old loved it. There was a pool maintenance person that visited during the week to make sure the pool was clean and add chemicals that needed to be added. The owners were very helpful by sending us information about 4th of July activities since we were there that weekend. We also had a couple of light bulbs out and they came and took care of that right away. The property is located close to the beach. It is a short walk to the public access point. You can use the path behind the house and get to the public access point faster then walking on the road, but taking the road is not that long of a walk. We used the road all the time because we had a stroller in tow. Overall we loved the house. It was clean and the amenities were nice.

We've spent several winters in Southern Surprise. It's a great house for Illinois snowbirds to enjoy January and February away from the cold and snow. Geoff and Susan have always been quick to respond to any minor problems that might arise. If the house were located directly on the beach, it would rate 5's all around.

This is the second year in a row that we rented Southern Surprise. Our whole family is able to visit Gulf Shores the same week for Spring break. We rented both the upper and lower to accommodate 15 of us. Everything is so spacious for our large group and everything is very clean and amply furnished with what is needed. The pool is definitely a big plus. The only regret is that the pool is not and is not able to be heated. The temps and water temp can be a bit cool the first of April. Would be nice to even have a solar cover to help. This being just the only negative, I would definitely rate this rental an A plus.

This is our 5th year as Snowbirds staying at Southern Surprise. It's an excellent location, convenient to beach and restaurants. Disappointing response (5 days) from Mediacom when TV and internet service was interrupted. In talking with other residents, this is typical. Property managers were responsive to our needs and requests. Some furniture needs to be replaced in living area. Overall, a great house, the reason we keep returning.
